ENT 3501 Business Development I
This is a practical course where students are taught how to find business ideas, conduct feasibility studies, work on problem solving and idea development. By working in teams the students will by the end of the semester deliver a business plan for an idea of their own choosing and pitch the idea orally in front of an audience.
Attendance in lectures and work beyond classes is expected.
- An elementary understanding of the resource-based view
- An elementary understanding of theory and practice related to starting and running start-up companies
- An elementary understanding of various ideas, theories and frameworks related to feasibility studies and business development for new ventures
- Evaluate and conclude about the market potential of a business idea
- Gain experience with identifying and contacting relevant stakeholders and acquiring and structuring primary data obtained through interviews;
- Gain experience with acquiring secondary data
- Gain experience with teamwork and networking
- Be able to construct and present a business idea in writing and orally
- Be able to write a business plan summarizing findings made through collecting data from primary- and secondary sources
- Be able to conceptualize relevant phenomena within entrepreneurship and business development through the application of relevant theory
During the course, the students will gain real world experience related to the testing and evaluation of business ideas and the idea of starting a new venture. Herein, the ability to critically reflect over market-, societal and financial consequences related to each step of the commercialization process. Communication within each team and towards external stakeholders, trial-and-error in practice and reflection is central to the course.

Classroom activities will consist of lectures and workshops. Between lectures students are expected to organize their own work on both the individual and the group based exam.
Emphasis will be placed on attendance and participation.
