Introduction

This is a practical course where students receive training in developing ideas, commercialization and setting up a business. The students will during the course initiate and start a new venture, either as a "Student Corporation" or as an ordinary company.

The course will go more in-depth on developing business ideas, with focus on Effectuation and Lean Start-up. Throughout the semester, the students will develop their own entrepreneurial mindset and problem-solving skills through experimental learning and reflection.

The course provides an insight of the field of entrepreneurial mindset in theory and practices. The students will achieve a better understanding of the key themes and concept in the field of starting a new venture, with special focus on costumer discovery.

During the course, the students will gain experience with real choices related to testing ideas, evaluation and commercialization of a company. Furthermore, the ability to critically reflect on the optimal balance among stakeholders, ethics and the need to create sustainable value.

Teaching and learning activities

The course will use a combination of lectures, group discussions and other student activities. The teacher will facilitate for a high level of interactivity, through group work and reflection. Through exchanges between lectures, discussions, and practical experiences, the students will get a vivid picture regarding the process of starting a new venture. In addition, there will be compulsory student activities in and between the lectures during the whole semester, such as individual logs.

As a mean to promote motivation and learning, the students will complete weekly sprints for testing hypotheses and verifying the business model during four weeks in the middle of the semester. During these sprints, it will require several hours work every day of the week (Monday until Friday).
