Introduction

This course takes up the challenges and possibilities for creative industry as a result of digitalization. The use of digital technology has broad consequences with regard to how content is created, diffused and experienced. Digitalisation also creates new possibilities and challenges for financing, communication and marketing in creative industries. In the course, emphasis is put on students developing an understanding of the questions facing creative industries as a result of digitalization. Emphasis is put on students being able to develop an understanding of the main challenges creative industry faces as a result of digitalization and a fundamental understanding of the skills required to use digital tools.

Learning outcomes - Knowledge

Students will acquire an understanding of what digital technology is and how digitalization creates new conditions for creative industries and opens up for possibilities and challenges with regard to how you can operate in different parts of the creative industry value chain.

Students shall develop fundamental skills in using digital tools in creative industries and the ability to assess which tools are suitable and not in various contexts.

General Competence

Students shall develop their ability to reflect upon what the use of digital tools means in a social perspective and to better understand ethical issues that arise in the wake of the digitalization of creative industry.

  • How to understand digitalization – historically and at present
  • Data analysis, artificial intelligence, algorithms, and new platforms in creative industries
  • Digital business structures and business models
  • Use of social media and digital marketing in creative industries
  • Data analysis, artificial intelligence, algorithms, and new platforms in a societal perspective
  • Ethics and privacy
Teaching and learning activities

30 hours of teaching will be provided. As a part of the learning process, students will present a project for the class. Counseling will be provided for the project in connection with the lectures.
