Introduction

This course is about challenges and opportunities for creative industries as a result of digitalisation. The use of digital technology has far-reaching consequences for how creative content is created, disseminated and experienced. Digitization also provides new opportunities and challenges for financing, communication and marketing in the creative industry. In the course, emphasis is placed on the students both developing an understanding of the overall questions the creative industry faces as a result of digitalisation and skills in using digital tools.

Learning outcomes - Knowledge

The student will acquire knowledge of what digital technology is, how digitalisation creates new conditions for the creative industry and creates opportunities and challenges for how to operate in different parts of the creative industry's value chain.

Learning outcomes - Skills

The student will develop skills to use digital tools in the creative industry, such as marketing creative products and services using social media, financing projects through crowdfunding and easy use of data analytics.

General Competence

The student will develop his or her reflection on what the use of digital tools means in a societal perspective and understand ethical issues that arise with the digitalisation of creative industries.

  • Big data, algorithms and new platforms and what they are used for in the creative industry
  • Digital industry structures and business models
  • Use of social media and digital marketing in the creative industry
  • Big data and algorithms in a societal perspective
  • Ethics and online knowledge
Teaching and learning activities

There will be 24 hours of teaching in the course topics and 12 hours of presentations and discussions in the class. As part of the learning process, students will present the project assignment in class during the course. Guidance will also be given to the project assignment in connection with the lectures.
