Candidate Profile

The MSc in Business is a two-year full time graduate programme.  It is for students who wish to specialize in one subject area – a major - while at the same time gaining a broad business education.  Students self-select one of seven majors (strategy, logistics, marketing, leadership and change, finance, economics, accounting and business control), and combine this with core business courses and electives.  Students are also offered the opportunity to undertake a wide range of options within the MSc in Business programme, including internship, summer school, exchange, etc.  The programme is taught entirely in English, and we place emphasis on offering a diverse, international classroom for learning, and research-driven teaching. 

Learning outcome - Knowledge

The candidate should have acquired;

  • Advanced theoretical understanding within core areas of business administration, such as micro economics.
  • comprehensive theoretical appreciation of quantitative analytical tools
  • specialized knowledge within their chosen major in either strategy, finance, economics, marketing, leadership and change, logistics, accounting and business control.  This incorporates up to date appreciation of the development and state-of-the-art of core theories, ideas and frameworks relevant to the major subject area. 
  • abilities to critically apply advanced academic knowledge in experiential settings, e.g. business cases, consulting projects, internships, etc.
Learning outcome - Skills

A candidate should be able to;

  • apply theories and methods from business disciplines to analyse and solve real life business problems
  • use quantitative methods in statistics and mathematics in the analysis of business relevant topics
  • utilise relevant digital tools when applying quantitative methods to real-life business problems
  • search for and process large amounts of information in a critical way
  • design, plan and conduct an independent research project under supervision and in accordance with the applicable norms for research ethics
Learning outcome - General Competence

A candidate;

  • will be able to use their new theoretical knowledge and skill set in a wide range of business sectors
  • will be aware of the ‘grand challenges’ at a global societal level which impact on how business operates, such as digitalisation and sustainability.
  • is capable of critical thinking, especially when applied to complex problems
  • is able to evaluate large amounts of information in a critical fashion
  • can appreciate the ethical dilemmas arising in modern business life and make trade-offs
  • is able to communicate effectively about complex issues and their potential solutions in both spoken and written English
