The programme is intended for those familiar with the energy industry as well as participants aspiring to work in the energy field. It is professionally oriented and designed to give participants a comprehensive understanding of key energy issues.
The Executive Master of Management in Energy is a specialized branch of study aimed at providing leadership education with an international focus, tailored to the energy sector. Energy is an industry marked by strong competition and large international players. In such a setting, it is important to have a sector-oriented and outward-looking leadership education.
The Executive Master of Management in Energy programme has a global focus and brings together participants and faculty with international experience. The programme includes international courses that give participants exposure to business practices and trends in different environments. These courses take place at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo and IFP School in Paris.
The participants in the EMME programme will receive a general understanding and familiarity with the Energy industry as a whole, as well as an in depth knowledge of the necessary capabilities and competencies necessary to master and manage the leader issues within the energy industry. This includes the demand for better understanding of the impact and importance of digitalisation and Big Data on the future business models, decision-making capability, organisation design and leadership attitudes, which are considered a necessity for the leaders shaping the future in the energy industry.
The programme has an international profile both in terms of topics and participants, and an important knowledge outcome is an understanding of the requested performance profile to managers and leaders in order to achieve sustained competitive advantage in a disruptive and digital energy world.
The programme design is as an applied approach in nature with particular focus on the energy industry needs for high performance management and leadership skills. The desired management and leadership skills in a digital and disruptive business environment request particular skills in optimal energy business analyses, high performing decision making under unpredictable and uncertain conditions, ability to drive strategy into action, building high performing management teams with skills of handling the industry management issues including capability of mastering external stakeholders in society and governments.
A large proportion of training on realistic and real problems shall lead to the achievement of key management and leadership skills in making strategy into action, analysis of complex problems, capability of utilisation of the features of digitalization, Big Data and Internet of Things into critical decision making issues and achieving high performing strategic and operation management skills.
The participants will learn to evaluate the ever-increasing complexity in the energy industry and the increasing speed of change including disruptive shifts in the business environment and the interaction with society and governments. The candidates should achieve a thorough perception of the energy business environment in the future, which is characterised by volatility, uncertainty complexity and ambiguity.
Finally, but not least, the candidates shall build facts based self-confidence to be qualified in entering key management and leader positions in the energy industry being capable of shaping the future for the industry in a digital and disruptive world.
