Bachelor in Business Administration

Bachelor in Business Administration

The curriculum describes normal progression for each year.

There will be a new course structure as of the academic year 2009/2010. As a main rule least course size will be 7,5 credits and this implies changes in the program as well. The new course structure will be introduced gradually so that changes at first year will be done in the academic year 2009/2010, second year will be changed in the academic year 2010/2011 and third year in the academic year 2011/2012.

Students who started at their first year before autumn 2009, and are doing the prescribed curriculum, will complete their program according to the preceding course structure. Re-sit exams will be arranged for courses at first and second year level even spring 2012. For courses at third year level re-sit exams will be offered even spring 2013.

The curriculums are presented according to the way the courses will be lectured in the academic year 2009/2010. It is possible to preview new curriculums for second and third year respectively in 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 below. Earlier versions of curriculums are to be found in previous student handbooks.

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is a three-year full-time degree programme that will give the students a solid first degree in international business. This programme is taught entirely in English and has a deliberate international emphasis. The student population is international and culturally diverse.

Learning Objectives

The BBA degree programme gives students basic knowledge in management with a focus on international business. The theoretical platform used to identify and analyse complex issues in the global economy is attained through a thorough introduction to the following subjects: accounting, finance, economics, marketing and quantitative methods. Management of behaviour and strategic processes as well as internal and external communication channels is acquired through leadership and communication-based courses.

Skills Acquisition / Competencies

The BBA degree prepares students for a career in an increasingly global world. The students are trained in the solution of business-related issues by the application of theoretical knowledge to practical business situations through the use of for example case presentations and negotiation techniques. This programme equips the students with an overall understanding of the challenges which international institutions face.

Ethical foundation / Self-reflection

The BBA degree programme encompasses a wide range of decisions which global managers will invariably face. After completion of the programme, students will be able to appreciate and critically evaluate the financial, marketing and ethical consequences of the key decisions made.
