BØK 2841 Shipping Management 1- RE-SIT EXAMINATION Responsible for the course Cathrine Bjune Department Department of Accounting - Auditing and Law Term According to study plan ECTS Credits 6 Language of instruction English Introduction This course (in combination with BØK 2842) offers a thorough introduction to the development, practice and economics of international shipping. It is aimed at students who wish to specialise in the management of shipping companies, work in ship-broking firms or with consultants, finance and insurance organizations that include shipping in their portfolios. The courses also facilitate entry into management positions in those sectors of international commerce, industry and civil service that are prime users of maritime services. The courses are designed as electives to be chosen in combination with specialisation's such as finance, logistics, project management, enterprise development and so on. Objective The course will introduce students to the role of maritime transport in international trade and to the specific tasks that face the executives of shipping companies and other organizations in the maritime industry.
