MBA 2434 Human Resource Management
In its essence management is about getting things done through people and human resources. This course addresses how organizations can and actually do manage human resources at strategic, tactical, and operational levels. The course will expose the participants to current trends in research and practice of human resource management by engaging them in both practice-oriented experiential learning as well as evidence-based approach towards HRM.
Students will obtain an understanding of contemporary research evidence-based knowledge in the field of human resource management through the overview of the most important topics, concepts, and contributions within this field.
Upon course completion, the students should be able to critically examine theories, studies and practice in human resource management. They should know how research in this field may be interpreted and evaluated, and see how this knowledge may be applied to real life situations. Vice versa, the students shall also be able to construct new knowledge from real life situations that the course will enable them to engage with.
The students should be able to communicate and discuss human resource management concepts, processes, real-life practices in order to construct, communicate and utilize knowledge about people at work.

2 of the teaching hours in this course are dedicated to CSR, ethics, social and environmental issues.
1 ECTS credit corresponds to a workload of 26-30 hours.
The course is conducted through a total of 48 hours of lectures, 30 hours of group work and 46 hours of independent studies.
The course is a part of a full MBA programme and examination in all courses must be passed in order to obtain a certificate.
Software tools
Online HRM simulation, where student assume the role of human resource manager in need of allocating resources over time, prioritizing HR practices of their choosing. During the simulation, student are also resolving short dilemmas and scenarios they confront.
