KLS 3554 Sustainable Project Management in the Creative Industries
A great deal of the activity in the creative industry is organized into projects, and in this practically oriented course students gain insight into how they can plan and assess small and large artistic and creative projects in a sustainable way. Projects within the creative industry differ from others in that the artistic and creative often constitute the most important governing factors. In this course, students will gain insight into how sustainability, art and creativity are balanced with traditional management factors such as time and costs.
The student
- Has knowledge of project organization and management.
- Has insight into how artistic and creative elements set guidelines for all phases of the project, such as genre, location, form of financing and the like.
- Has knowledge of what characterizes the implementation of sustainable projects.
The students
- can apply knowledge of sustainable projects within the creative industry
- can assess projects' climate and environmental footprint, environmental accounting
- can assess and safeguard both artistic and financial values
- reflect on how supervision affects the learning process in carrying out the project.
During the course, the students will develop an understanding of the importance of sustainability in projects, and of the interaction between artistic and financial values in projects within the creative industry.

The course is conducted with lectures and asynchronous material, as well as guidance and feedback on assignments. The students will work together in groups on a given project and throughout the duration of the course they will be able to work with simulations/cases originating from the creative industry. The lectures are based on the syllabus, while tutorials are based on the students' own exam answers. Two tutorials will be conducted where the students have the opportunity to receive feedback on their specific assignment. The guidance will be based on rubrics associated with the course.
