Introduction
Digital enterprise development is concerned with inter and intra-organizational business processes that simplify, automate and enable electronic business. While management and employees carry out knowledge work, information and communication technology handle information work. Students learn how digital business processes cooperate with knowledge processes in the organization and between organizations. Digital enterprise development is based on electronic business concepts and use of information technology to support knowledge work. E-business as a field of study has been captured in terms of two major phases. This course is concerned with the second phase. While the first phase was powerful and too promising, with significant disappointments, the second phase is characterized by a solid theoretical and practical foundation in terms of strategy, business models, value configurations and knowledge management.
