GRA 2263 International Summer Internship for MSc in Business
The summer international internship is an opportunity to work at a company, university or organisation abroad over a suitable period. The internship participant works at a specific company, university or organisation based on both what they are seeking and based on the interests of the student.
The position must be advertised by the company as an internship. The internship will give you valuable insights in real-world challenges in an international perspective, and should help you in putting your academic learning in perspective. No ECTS credits are awarded by BI as a result of the undertaking. The internship must be approved in advance by BI (via the Careers Service)
The student shall demonstrate the following competencies after the internship:
- Knowledge of key practical dilemmas of the everyday work in the company, university or organisation
- Knowledge of the formal management systems in the company, university or organisation
- Knowledge of the day-to-day challenges involved in time managemnt, efficiency and customer service
- Ability to define and execute tasks under conditions of uncertainty and change.
- Ability to support suggestions for practical solutions with academically sound analysis.
- Ability to collaborate and to work in teams
- Learn not take anything at face value and to defer judgement
- Understanding of the complexities of the market forces that drive business
- Openness to ideas from a variety of perspectives
- To gain insight into the realities of working in an international environment
The summer international internship should preferably be full-time over a suitable period, but part-time positions may also be considered to be relevant. A completed and approved internship will give 0 ECTS credits.
Students must attend work as agreed upon with the company, university or organisation they obtain an internship placement with. In order for the international summer internship to be included in the student's diploma, approval must be sought in advance from BI (via the Careers Services procedures)
The internship work can be paid or unpaid.
All courses in the Masters programme will assume that students have fulfilled the admission requirements for the programme. In addition, courses in second, third and/or fourth semester can have spesific prerequisites and will assume that students have followed normal study progression. For double degree and exchange students, please note that equivalent courses are accepted.
