DRE 3003 Strategy III - Fields of Strategy
This course is mandatory for students majoring in strategy. The course provides an overview of current streams of research; covering both the fundamental issues dealt with within given topics, research perspectives and traditions, and exemplary studies.

Reflection: critical and analytical
The fields covered in the course are subject to change, depending on the cutting-edge research currently done at the department. Previous versions of the course have covered:
International business
Eg IS models, entry modes, M-P relationship, I-processes
Mergers & Acquisitions/Strategic alliances
Eg Motives, valuation, selection/bargaining, implementation/integration/performance
Networks
Eg social vs business networks, network characteristics and mechanisms
Strategy processes
Eg Decision making, leadership, strategizing
Strategy and organization
Eg Coordination, control, organizing
The course is designed as 10 three hour seminars.
The course is taught by a number of faculty from the Department of Stategy, primarily as research seminars, where students and faculty interact in a combination of presentations and discussions of key contributions in the field. The students are expected to have read the assigned reading before each seminar.

Enrollment in a PhD Programme is a general requirement for participation in PhD courses at BI Norwegian Business School.
External candidates are kindly asked to attach confirmation of enrollment in a PhD programme when signing up for a course. Other candidates may be allowed to sit in on courses by approval of the courseleader. Sitting in on a course does not permit registration for the course, handing in exams or gaining credits for the course. Course certificates or confirmation letters will not be issued for sitting in on courses.
DRE3002 Strategy II (Fundamental Issues in Strategic Management) and DRE3004 Strategy I (Foundations of Strategic Management and Organizations) are strongly recommended, but not mandatory.
