ENT 3610 Leadership and valuation of a start-up company
The main objective of the course is to enable students to raise investor capital for a start-up company. The course will provide students with skills so that they are equipped to implement this process in practice. This involves being able to lead this process, assess the value of the company and understand the investor's perspective.
Student presentations, discussions, including interviews of entrepreneur / investment environments are planned.
After the course the students should have:
- Acquired knowledge of valuation and capital raising
- Gained an understanding of management and project management in particular
- Acquired knowledge of teamwork and communication
- Acquired knowledge of upscaling and growth
After completing the course the students should:
- Be able to value a startup company
- Be able to raise capital for a startup company
- Be able to lead teams and projects
- Be able to mobilize resources in teams and communicate remotely
- Lead start-up companies for further growth
The course will give the students competence so that they are equipped to carry out a capital raising process in practice. Students should be able to understand and reflect on the complexity of such processes.

- Part 6: Organization and further growth in start-up business
The course is completed with 36 hours of lectures, group discussions and business studies. The teaching is organized with a high degree of interactivity - through presentations, discussions, group work and meetings with external students.
Coursework
Students are expected to be present during all lectures and actively contribute to knowledge exchange and class discussion. Attendance is documented by the lecturer weekly. Students must complete two assignments to sit for the exam, a team assignment and an individual log (both posted and to be answered on itslearning).
Group assignments are allocated at the start of the semester with a deadline for enrollment, and must be submitted as a written assignment (based on part 1 and part 2 of the course).
The second assignment is an individual log based on reflection questions from Part 3, Part 4, Part 5 and Part 6.
Examination
The course concludes with a written group-based assignment that is based on the work requirement from part 1 and part 2 and an up to 30 minute oral group-wide exam.
Re-sit
Students who do not pass the work requirement in the course may not take the exam. This means that they must retake the entire course for later completion.
Students who do not pass a written examination or who wish to improve the grade, can take a new continuation examination at a later examination.

The course is based on knowledge that the student is expected to have acquired during the previous semesters in the programme.
