ENT 3503 Growth Strategy for Start-Ups
In this course, the student will learn about strategies for growth, and their consequences, both in start-ups and related to innovation in established companies. The student will be exposed to various challenges that tend to arise when a company is growing. Finally, the students will also learn about growth-based crises, and how these may be handled.
The students will achieve a better understanding of how to locate entrepreneurial opportunities and grow ventures. The students are to learn about entrepreneurial decision-making, growth strategies for ventures, business models and handling crises during growth.
The students are supposed to learn how to analyze entrepreneurial opportunities and growth strategies, as well as develop strategies for growth and innovation in new and established firms. Furthermore, the students should learn to recognize and take action to deal with crises.
During the course the student should develop capacity for critical reflection on entrepreneurial decision-making, growth strategies, entrepreneurial storytelling and crisis management.

The course will use a combination of lectures, case exercises and student presentations. During the course the students will research a practical/empirical question and analyze this by using models and theories from the curriculum. In addition, there will be compulsory student activities in and between the lectures, such as preparing presentations and doing casework.

A course of 1 ECTS credit corresponds to a workload of 26-30 hours. Therefore a course of 7,5 ECTS credit corresponds to a workload of at least 200 hours.
The note consists of these obligatory elements:

- The student rate their own participation in class using the A-F scale and explain their own grade
- The student provides at least one example of participation in class, such as a presentation or answers to case exercises from class.
The reflection note is graded pass/fail based on the course responsible’s assessment of your attendance and participation. This assessment will be based on this note and the responsible’s judgement of your attendance and participation.
All exams must be passed to obtain a final grade in the course.
