Introduction

The aim of the course is to learn students how to solve numerically, simulate and structurally estimate such models. 

Learning outcomes - Knowledge

The course aims to take the students to the research frontier on how to structrally estimate search models. 

Learning outcomes - Skills

The students are expected to be able to cosntruct and structurally estimate search  models using indirect inference and other estimation techniques.

General Competence

Understand how indirect inference can be used to calibrate and estimate economic models. 

Course content

The DMP model and optimal unemployment insurance. The Burdett-Mortensen model. Fixed-point theorems. Value function iterations. Programming in Matlab. 

Teaching and learning activities

Students are required to participate in class both in discussions and  programming sessions.

Enrollment in a PhD Programme is a general requirement for participation in PhD courses at BI Norwegian Business School.
