EXP 2400 Bachelor Thesis in International Management -RE-SIT EXAMINATION
A last re-sit examination will be offered in the spring of 2023.
The bachelor thesis is a large independent body of work, where the students demonstrate that they can relate to a business problem and perform a valid analysis of this based on insights gained from the course topics. The bachelor thesis bridges theory and practice and intends to train students how to plan and execute larger projects with limited resources and a short time frame. Moreover, students learn how to argue convincingly for their analysis and recommendations through oral and written presentation.
The bachelor thesis project aims at developing in-depth knowledge by applying theories from the course topics to problems companies face when operating in a global business environment.
The bachelor project is intended to give the students training in planning and executing a research project in a group within a limited time period, and report their findings in a non-Norwegian language. The students will learn how to identify theories and methods relevant to the thesis, how to use central theories and methods to perform an analysis of the chosen topic and how to gather, evaluate and critically interpret information relevant to their research problem. The process shall comply with scientific methods of data collection, analysis and reporting.
The students should develop ability for critical reflection, and how to evaluate an issue within the field of international management from different perspectives. The students should also be aware of ethical conflicts and issues relating to their research problem.
The bachelor project aims at developing in-depth knowledge by applying the theories from course topics to problems companies face when operating in a global business environment. The project is subject to the approval of the advisor of the host university.
The bachelor project is organised in groups of 3-4 students, the composition of which is to be approved by the host university on behalf of BI Norwegian Business School. The host school will appoint an academic advisor for each group. The advisor is normally a member of the school’s academic staff. The work is expected to be independent, including negotiations with companies for assignments, selection of literature, choice of methods of discovery, information gathering, analysis, and presentation of results.
Evaluation is primarily based on the written report. The grade can be adjusted by the performance on the oral presentation and defence of the project at the discretion of the host university.
