Introduction

The purpose of this course is to provide an understanding of various port management aspects as well as transportation modes used in international transports, with an emphasis on multimodal and intermodal transport operations. It provides a broader framework around shipping management, and helps to relate sea transportation to other transport modes. An important aspect is also the understanding of the port as a multimodal link in the supply chains.

Teaching and learning activities

Students are expected to actively participate through discussions and exercises. In addition, 1-2 of the 15 lectures will be in the form of a port visit (physical or digital).

Some calculations are done in Excel. Therefore, the students are supposed to know the basics of working with Excel.
