Kunnskapsmål

The students will learn about communication theories and models (internal and external communication) and organizational communication, as well as how to plan and work with messages (multimodal texts). This includes applications in general on behalf of organizations as well as how to work with messages in more specific contexts such as crisis communication and CSR, which are important and relevant skills for students educated within digital communication.  

Knowledge 

  • Participants will acquire in-depth knowledge of multimodal textural theories, including rhetoric, semiotic, narratology and hermeneutics 
  • Participants will acquire specific and detailed knowledge about theories within CSR and crisis communication 
  • Participants will learn approaches to qualitative multimodal content analysis  
Ferdighetsmål
  • Participants will learn how to identify, analyze, critique, and evaluate examples of organizational rhetoric in society 
  • Participants will be able to responsible and effectively create messages that help organizations meet their objectives 
  • Participants will be able to analyze multimodal texts 
Generell kompetanse
  • To build students’ ability to critically think about and analyze persuasive messages of organizations  
  • Assess the effectiveness and ethicality of strategies organizations use to influence audiences   
  • Understand the role of the corporate “voice” in reaching various audiences and building identity 
  • Explain why corporate communication professionals benefit from understanding multimodal textual theories and analysis
