Introduction

An opportunity for businesses once established is to grow and scale up in an international business environment. High-potential startups undergo a significant transformation from small high-tech ventures into global business corporations. This programme provides the participant with the foundation for making future decisions with respect to venture projects. The programme builds upon evidence-based knowledge and experiential experience within core areas for high-tech entrepreneurs. The programme combines selected topics and skills salient to the advanced stages of business growth and development in an international context. The programme is a continuation of the programme Born global.

Learning outcomes - Knowledge

Learning Outcome - Reflection

Through actively participating in the course the students will be able to apply the process of reflective action learning on own and other decision processes. The students will experience a complex global decision-making environment in order to prepare them for opportunities and challenges of global growth.

The students are evaluated through a term paper, counting 60% of the total grade and an individually portfolio assessment, counting 40%. The term paper may be written individually or in groups of maximum three persons. All evaluations must be passed to obtain a certificate for the programme. 

The final portfolio assessment must be handed in at the end of the programme. The portfolio assessment consist of a selection of five out of six individually written submissions that has been handed in during each module. Details about deadlines and the construction of the portfolio will be given at programme startup.

The term paper is included in the degree’s independent work of degree, cf national regulation on requirements for master’s degree, equivalent to 18 ECTS credits per. programme. For the Executive Master of Management degree, the independent work of degree represents the sum of term papers from three programmes.

Global Scaleup consists of six learning modules:

Brand Positioning and Market Concepts for Growth and Innovation

3) Raising Capital
Sources of financing for Start-ups

4) Skills of Change in International Entrepreneurship
Change Management: Managing a start-up through growth and upscaling

5) Network and Partnerships
Venturing and M&A: Understanding Benefits and risks of Partnership Options

6) You as a Leader
Venturing and M&A: Understanding Benefits and risks of Partnership Options

Learning process and requirements to students

The programme is structured as a combination of experiential learning, interactive facilitated lectures, discussions, in-class activities, and creative student presentations. It requires active involvement during class and is appropriate for students with high-tech and entrepreneurial background. The program will be done over six modules in total over 150 hours. 

Project tutorials differ in each Executive Master of Management programme. It will consist of personal tutorials and tutorials given in class. Generally the students may expect consulting tutorials, not evaluating tutorials. The total hours of tutorials offered is estimated to four hours pr. term paper following an ordinary Master of Management programme.

Please note that while attendance is not compulsory in all programmes, it is the student's own responsibility to obtain any information provided in class that is not included on the course homepage/ itslearning or other course materials.
