Introduction

    Objective
    The human beeings are more than ever consumers. Our increasing consumption is linked to the households general growth in income. According to this, journalism on consumers economy has become more relevant and important in media coverage. This form of journalism aims to enlighten and explain consequenses for the consumers of economic politics and the plans and actions in trade and industry.
    The course has two objectives. The first part aims to give the students knowledge and familiarity in fundamental issues in consumerseconomy and legal issues linked to the consumers economy. The students will be confronted with important research work and resources of competance. The second part focuses on journalism on consumers economy, with an angle towards subjects that concern ordinary people in their everyday life. We concentrate on tools and methods in journalism, and aspesially on the challenges of source critisism.

    Computer-based tools

    Course structure
    The course consists of 36 hours of lectures. Cases are used as a part of the lectures and students work with selected issues inndividually or in groups. Cases gives training in how to angle news, journalistic simplyfication, reportin, how to pas on facts and commenting.


    Examination
    Grade in course will be based on a five-hour written exam.
