Introduction

The course provides an introduction to strategic perspectives and analyzes. Throughout the course, students will gain knowledge of strategic methods and develop an understanding of strategic thinking. The course will require broad insight into business economics subjects and contributes to a business holistic view and is a natural conclusion of a bachelor's degree.

Learning outcomes - Knowledge

Students will gain good insight into strategic issues and be able to identify and analyze which elements are important in a company's ability to create value over time. Students will learn different strategic approaches based on external and internal analyzes, and discuss their implications for choice, implementation and structure. Students will develop an understanding of how strategy integrates other disciplines such as financial management, logistics, organization and marketing, including considerations of digitization, sustainability and how this contributes to the development of the business as a whole.

Learning outcomes - Skills

Students should be able to identify and understand a company's most important internal and external challenges, and which elements are important in a company's value creation. Students should be able to carry out a strategic analysis of a business and, among other things, be able to formulate vision and business idea. They should also be able to identify and discuss issues related to strategic choices and strategy implementation, and thereby be able to see links between strategy and organizational challenges. Students should be able to present a strategic project to an intended management team or board.

General Competence

Students will become aware of the corporate social responsibility and see the connection between ethics, stakeholders' values, environment, sustainability and value creation, including digital challenges.

Teaching and learning activities

The lectures take place in plenary and consists of lectures, discussions, project work, student presentations and guidance in connection with the project. The lectures take place partly in plenary, and / or as video lectures, webinars, podcasts and class exercises. Students should be able to work on the subject individually and in groups. Guidance will mainly occur as chat, webinar, plenary or in smaller groups.

Submission of project project proposal on learning platform in groups of maximum 3 students by a given date. This is to ensure that the task is early, which is absolutely necessary.

E-learning
In course delivery as online courses, lecturer will, in collaboration with the student administration, organize an appropriate course implementation, combining different learning activities and digital elements on the learning platform. Online students are also offered a study guide that will contribute to progression and overview. Total recommended time spent for completing the course also applies here.

STR 3605 The form of evaluation in this course has previously been:

  1. STR 36051 - Project assignment, which counts 60% of the grade in the course STR 3605 Strategy, 7.5 credits.
  2. STR 36052 - Individual multiple choice exam (40% of the grade in the course STR 3605 Strategy, 7.5 credits).

Re-sit eximiniations in borth parts autumn 2020, and last til spring 2021.
