Introduction

The course is primarily aimed at employees in the insurance industry with law as a part of their work. The course is obligatory to the Insurance exam.

Learning outcomes - Knowledge

The students shall get a thorough introduction to insurance law and law of damages.

Learning outcomes - Skills

The students shall be able to use law of damages and insurance law for practical tasks, concerning advising as well as claims handling and settlements.

Learning Outcome - Reflection

During the course, the students should have acquired a conscious attitude to the fact that their professional choices and advices first and foremost are of importance for other people than themselves.

Law of damages

  • Contractual and Non-contractual compensation
  • The position of the Law of damages
  • Causality
  • The size of compensation

Insurance Law

  • The Insurance contract etc.
  • The parties’ obligations at the contract agreement
  • The assumptions for the Insurance companies’ liabilities
  • Identification
  • The Insurance Company’s liability for salvage expenses
  • Third party as a part of the insurance contract
  • The extent of the insurance contract
  • The settlement
Learning process and requirements to students

Part-time organized as E-Learning based on self-tuition and 4 send-ins (not mandatory).
Intensive 1 + 3 days seminars are organized. Participation mandatory.

The student needs basic knowledge of the Norwegian Insurance Industry and central statutory provisions concerning the Industry.
