DRE 7031 Topics in Microeconomics I
The aim of the course is to provide the students with a thorough understanding of selected topics in microeconomics. Depending on the instructor and the interests of the students, topics may include contract theory, auction theory, game theory, or assignment models. The choice of topics for Spring 2025 will be presented in due time before the course starts.
After taking this course, students should be able to apply rigorous microeconomic techniques to analyse economic performance in different institutional settings.

Provide the students with an understanding of which assumptions are critical in economic models and which are only introduced for analytical convenience; and of how different institutional environments may impact economic efficiency.
The main objective of this course is to give an introduction to some of the main topics in advanced modern microeconomic theory. Topics for the spring of 2025 will be given in due time.
Usually, the course is taught over 4 weeks, with 6 two-hour lectures over the first three weeks, a single 3 hour lecture in the fourth week, and a three-hour long practice session. However, the schedule is flexible and may be adjusted before the course starts. The students will be informed of this in due course.
Enrollment in a PhD Programme is a general requirement for participation in PhD courses at BI Norwegian Business School.
External candidates are kindly asked to attach confirmation of enrollment in a PhD programme when signing up for a course. Other candidates may be allowed to sit in on courses by approval of the courseleader. Sitting in on a course does not permit registration for the course, handing in exams or gaining credits for the course. Course certificates or confirmation letters will not be issued for sitting in on courses.
